Drunk Skunk and how to make mini liquor bottles

I just finished this intoxicated little stinker. The only thing worse than working with black and white fur is trying to photograph it - sheesh! You can't even see his eyes in the pics. The last picture includes my own bottle of Cutty Sark Scotch, lol.

So I was all excited when I finally, and we are talking years here folks, found something in the house I could actually make into a glass bottle. I thought it was my own brilliant idea, but found out it's been done before. I wish I had known about it sooner. For those who don't already know a super easy way to make this little liquor bottle, well I'll tell you.
All it is is a small Christmas tree light bulb. The bottom is rounded so you can either use a glass cutter to cut the rounded end off, or you can just use coarse sand paper and sand it off so that you have a nice flat bottom (which is what I did). Then all you have to do is paint it the color you want with glass paint, find the labels online that you want and print them out at the right size, and then cut and glue the label(s) on the bottle. Now that I know how to do this, you can probably expect some more inebriated animals from me in the near future, LOL. :)

  4. LOL, thanks Keevster. I wasn't too impressed with the bottles you can buy from the online miniature stores, seems like most of them are just plastic too. Besides, I don't like to buy my accessories. I feel like , I don't know, like I'm cheating or something, lol. I'd rather make them if I can.

  5. "Little stinker" - not a very nice expression for this funny little chap. He has a smile guarantee included, that's for sure. And thank you for the bottle tutorial, I really expect a new series on the effect of alcohol on little critters from you now (lol).

    Have a nice week!

  12. Kristy that is brilliant! I love him!!! As usual... You have once again been so clever with your theme. I think if you thought of that idea to make a bottle, it it is every bit as much your idea as the first persons.
I have found beautiful labels for Absinthe online. You might want to make a bottle for your next tipsy critter.:-)

  14. Thanks everyone. I hope it comes in handy for you. These lights may be a bit too small for 1:12 scale liquor bottles, but maybe they would be better as a soda pop or milk bottle or potions - I'm sure you guys could come up with a ton of ideas. You can probably get different sizes of these lights as well.

SANS!!!!! You NUT!!!! ROFL, that's a perfect impersonation of Pepe Le Pew!

Tabitha, I assumed you changed your mind which is of course, a miniaturist's prerogative. No problem at all Tabs, just let me know when or if you're ready and send me a sketch. :)

Catherine, I received your e-mail, and those are awesome Absinthe labels. Thank you!!! I'm sure I'll be using them now that I have my little stockpile of mini bottles, lol.

  21. He is so cute, but I see the problem, can't see his face much being all black, but I assumed the pink bit is his tongue lolling. And what a fantastic idea for making bottles, thanks for passing that on. Look forward to seeing more inebriated animals!

  22. Kristy, He is wonderful!!!!! WOW to the bottle!!! What a great idea......would you consider taking a photo of the light bulb that you used? Is the sanded end the bottom of the bottle and if so is it opened or solid glass when you are finished sanding! Can't wait to try this out!!!! I am like you and have been disappointed with what is available!

  24. Still don't have a computer other than a laptop that I hate, so the fact that I am checking your blog is a compliment to you, Kristy! As usual, you have been doing awesome work while I have been out of touch. Trying to build myself a new computer, so it will be awhile yet before I am back in the saddle again. I miss my previous life!
