KRISTY'S MINI MENAGERIE

Hello and welcome, anybody who may come across this little blog of mine! I've just started this blog, and plan on focusing on miniatures, animals, and miniature animals. However, I'm also hoping it can be a fun place to talk about just about anything. We'll see.........

DOLLAR STORE DOLL FURNITURE

Seems like ages since I posted something new. This is my husband's fault - he bought me a PlayStation for Christmas, and I'm completely addicted to this Red Dead Redemption game. It's getting to be ridiculous!! I told Craig he needs to put some kind of "parental control" on it so I'm limited to how much time I waste on it per day.
Anyway, I am starting to get back into the miniature frame of mind again, and thought I'd post pictures of these dollhouse furniture pieces I found yesterday at the dollar store (only $1.00 a piece). It seems the scale is all wacky though. The bed could be half scale, the table may be a bit too tall for half scale, and that chair is closer to 1:12 scale. The vanity and hutch seem to be somewhere in-between, LOL. But since they were so inexpensive, I thought if nothing else I could always use parts from them (like the trim work or the chair legs, etc.), and since they are wood they can be re-painted.

  1. LOL, I lose time with the Nintendo DS, the daughter bought us one last Xmas. They are nearly as bad as minis for losing time.

  2. Who could resist a deal like that!

OK time to put your toys away and make some miniatures. Maybe you could use a timer and when it beeped off goes the play station. LOL hahaha

  3. (giggle) a big deal with definite possibilities Kristy!
I know everything about being steered off by other toys :-) For me it is the Kindle; I am reading full steam ahead since I bought the thing.

  10. LOL!! You always make my day. Love the little furniture pieces. The bureau doors open? Looks like it might make a great micro roombox puppet theater, mini house.. etc and the drawer might be converted to a MOUSE trundle bed....lol! Love the size of the table. Looks like you're going to be busy for a while. Don't let the scale stop you. You're little ones will take care of that.
    Lots of xxx

  14. Hahaha, you guys crack me up!
Minnie, I beat the game in a week too BUT...there is a multiplayer option where you can play against other people who are playing online so it doesn't EVER END! :-/
Becca, what's your user name? We could play together in multiplayer mode! LOL!!
OMG, Ernesto buddy! How are you doing? It's been forever!
Sans - yes, so very bashable indeed! Which is a good thing since that is what I'll most likely want to do with them.
Morena, HI!!! The drawers don't open unfortunately. If they did, they wouldn't be at the dollar store, they'd be at a $2 store.
Hey Christel! The store I got it from is actually called "The Dollar Tree". I don't know if they are all over or just local. Maybe I could send you the chair if you don't have a Dollar Tree store in your area. Just let me know.
Everyone, I miss you guys and I promise I WILL make more critters soon! AND...I will try to get caught up with what everyone has been doing or making via your blogs! :)
    Lots of Hugs!!!!!

  16. That would be fun but unfortunately I have it on Xbox. Also, I am terrible at it! I can't hit anything! My hubby always plays the shooters while I watch the story. I like running around on the horse though :P

We have a PS3 but barely use it. If you get Little Big Planet we could totally play together. That game is hilarious in co-op!

  17. And that's why I can't own a video game! The coonies would never get fed! LOL ;)

  19. I found the same furniture pieces at my dollar store in SC. I think they are scaled for dolls the size of Barbie's baby sister, Kelly. I used them for furniture in the kids' room of my doll house and they worked really well.
