And yes again, I had to resort to making her dress from clay! :(
I TRIED to use real fabrics, and despite my frustration and rising blood pressure, I thought it was going to look okay until after a while the ends that I had treated with "Fray Check" began to fray (Arrrrrgh!!!). That's when I gave up, LOL!
OMG how cute is she? Her dress looks great too, doesn't look like it was made from clay! Love her Kristy, you are amazing! xoxo Christel
ReplyDeleteShe looks fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteFabric is always a yaaaargh!!! thing for me - your clay dress is perfect! :)
She is just lovely!!
ReplyDeleteYou could try to use the thinnest iron on fusing on the back of the fabric, helps stop fraying too.
Have you ever tried paper for the dress?
She's sooo cute! Love the dress too!!
ReplyDeleteIf you didn't write about it noone would has probabbly noticed it is clay-dress ;D Pretty bunny! :)
ReplyDeleteShe is soooooooooooooooo cute
ReplyDeleteEs muy bonita y a mi el traje me parece perfecto. Un beso
ReplyDeleteO`isn`t she cute! And the dress is so perfect!
ReplyDeleteShe's adorable. Have you considered silk ribbon? It comes in various widths...7mm might work. Of course, you'd need so little it's almost easier to do the clothes in clay.
ReplyDeleteIt really does not look like clay, Kristy! I like real fabric and I use glue . It is much easier with glue.
ReplyDeleteEs adorable y el trajecito le queda fantastico.
ReplyDeletebesitos ascension
The dress doesn't look like clay, it looks very natural. As usual a very sweet little one.

What a cute little girl. I think, she likes her dress.
ReplyDeleteI like to make such tiny dresses out of soft tissue - they have 4 layers and I use 2 of them. But little dresses are always something to heighten the blood pressure. When you use ribbons - make sure, they are real silk. They are smooth enough. Synthetic ribbons are too unwieldy. Have a wonderful day Andrea
She's adorable, very cute indeed! Her dress is great! How did you managed to make a clay dress??? It looks like fabric in the picture.
ReplyDeleteShe looks so cute and her dress looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteVictoria ♥
Such a sweet little bunny........!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove her !
I use silk ribbons for clothing that small. It has two finished edges and you can pull the thread on one of the edges. Very thin cotton lace works too. You can also paint it to make it not fray. I love what you do with the clay. You get all of the realism and details in the clothing.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful creations.
Lots of XXX Morena
Wow, thanks everybody!!! Great tips! Now you've got me wanting to try again, and last night I swore I never would, LOL.
ReplyDeleteCatherine, with clay it's easy (well, actually it was a PITA but easy compared to fabric). I use a pasta machine to make a very thin and even sheet. You can texture it by pressing a piece of fabric into it and rolling it through the machine, and you can use "pearl" colored clay to mix with other colors which makes it look sort of like satin. Then you can manipulate it by using a needle to fold or crease, etc. Does this make sense??
Ok, I keep hearing about paper clothes and I'm really curious! It seems paper would be so delicate it would tear or rip, or that it wouldn't "age" well and become very fragile after a while. I don't get it!! But I want to! Does anybody know where I could see some mini paper clothes online somewhere?
Gorgeous as usual.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't imagine making fabric clothes that tiny either but the ribbon sounds like a great idea. Or lace even. And glue it not attempt to sew it lol.
But saying that I think the clay is fine...doesn't look like a clay dress at all.
trop mignonne !
ReplyDeleteAgain so very sweet and cute so lovely.
ReplyDeleteMy old blog it's gone?? new one>>

Kristy, she is sweeeeet and I think both you and she should be very pleased with her dress. I doubt whether it would be a good idea to use fabric- even ribbon- ,let alone paper( I think you are right ,it might become fragile after even a short while)- and besides, you are both comfortable and clever with clay- so why not stick to that?
ReplyDeleteOooooooooh, I just thought of something! I wonder if you used the tissue or crepe paper to make the little clothes but then coat the paper clothes with translucent liquid clay. I wonder if that would protect it and prevent it from getting ripped or torn.
ReplyDeleteOccasionally I've made paper accessories (for example a miniature newspaper), and I brushed the liquid clay on both sides of it and cured it in the oven. I don't know for sure if that made it stronger or protected it, but it didn't seem to hurt it any either.
Anybody have an opinion on this? :-/
Kristy, You did great with her dress! She is wonderful and sweet!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love her, she is soooooooooooo cute((-:
ReplyDeleteI agree with Andrea: I make such tiny dresses out of soft tissue too. I paint the paper first, then I cut it and glue it to the 1:144scale dolls.
